Our Drugs and Alcohol Education Services Provides youth centres, schools and educational establishments with up to date relevant knowledge understanding and skills in relation to substance misuse.

We provide workshops across the UK that covers topics such as medicines, Solvents, alcohol and tobacco, illicit Substances and consequences of substance use and misuse.

Our workshops are designed to be interactive and fun using various methods including. Forum discussion group, Lectures, Role-play, Drama, Videos, Quizzes, Games, Drama, Theatre.

The Sessions

The workshops are run by one of our experienced trainers who are enhanced CRB checked. The workshops are designed to be interactive using discussions and theatre to interact with participants.

During the workshops we aim to identify and correct myths and ignorance, and to ensure that participants are aware of up-to-date information on the consequences of using banned substances and tobacco, and of the misuse of alcohol, solvents.

Together we explore how best to tackle pressures, and equally importantly, how to support peers and friends in making and keeping to the right life-affecting decisions.

All our workshops, we tailor content and emphasis to each school's policy and needs. Overall review and revision of our workshops is a continuing process.

23% of 11-15 year olds report drinking alcohol. Drinking becomes more common as young people move through their teenage years rising to 45% of 15 year olds.

Alcohol consumption amongst young people has increased since 1990. In 2004 the average consumption per week amongst young drinkers was 11.3 units for boys and 10.2 for girls, almost twice the amount consumed in 1990.

34% of men aged 16-24 report drinking more than 8 units of alcohol a day at least once in the previous week and 26% of women report drinking more than 6 units.This is over twice the recommended safe daily limit.

18% of 11-15 year olds have used drugs in the last year, most commonly cannabis. As with alcohol, cannabis use increases with age from 1% of 11 year olds to 26% of 15 year olds.

1% of 11-15 year olds have used heroin and the same proportion have used cocaine. In total 4% have used a Class A drug of some kind.
